Hello! I love this blog. Very cool. My name is Kate, and I am an animal lover. I was just watching the movie, "Congo" and in it they kill a snake. I was wondering if you might be able to identify what kind of snake it is- I'm just curious. It is black with yellow bands, and they find it in a tree (while it was raining) in the rainforest. It appears about 45 mins into the movie. So if it is possible I would be interested in figuring out what kind of snake it is. Thanks!

hello! i live in south west Texas and had a real eye opener this morning. when i went outside to change the water in my cat's bowl, which is a large metal bowl , as i dumped out the water on a near by tree there was one of these yellow and black snakes ! SCARED THE LIVING DAY LIGHTS OUT OF ME! the snake was yellow and black as the one pictured above but there may have been a thin band of perhaps black and white coloration in between the larger yellow and black bands. HORRIFYING. i cant handle anything like that near the house. do you have any idea what kind of snake it could be? i realize the photo is of a snake from India but , I AM IN TEXAS. really appreciate your input if you have any info on this type of snake. thanks so much!!!
